Wellbeing is at the heart of a landmark commercial development that has recently received planning permission at Aztec West Business Park, Bristol.
The layout of the site, and the relationship between internal and external spaces, have been designed to enhance the emotional and physical wellbeing of occupiers and facilitate flexible working patterns.
The interface between the landscaping and buildings, between recreation and work, will be blurred by the use of living walls, climbing plants and pergolas, courtyards, outdoor working areas, and the colour and texture treatment of facades. The landscaping will be drawn in to connect with biophilic design elements in the interiors, with atria bringing natural daylight into the heart of the internal spaces.
The mature landscape surrounding the site will transition from an existing woodland path into a more formal landscape around the buildings. Under-croft parking will replace the surface car parking typical of a business park, creating two landscaped podiums and a garden at grade, each of which will have a distinct character to promote Activity, Relaxation or Growing.
The 200,000 sqft Grade A office accommodation will adapt flexibly to meet changing occupant requirements and working trends. Wellbeing initiatives include provision for cafes, gyms, shower and changing facilities. The sustainable transport plan includes secure cycle storage along with changing and shower facilities and electric car charging points. Photovoltaics, Air Source Heat Pumps and rainwater harvesting and attenuation combine to target BREEAM Excellent for the scheme which is being developed by Toltec Properties.
