We are delighted to announce that Tim Ward has been promoted from Managing Director to CEO of Chetwoods, with responsibility for the strategic direction and day-to-day management of the business across our UK offices in London and the Midlands. He will also be overseeing our international expansion including opening further offices in Germany and China.

Tim joined Chetwoods nineteen years ago and has been instrumental in developing innovative state-of-the-art environmental and regenerative schemes for the practice:

“I’ve worked on some really cutting-edge, innovative, environmentally and technologically-advanced schemes, which is the area I enjoy the most. The sustainable projects are the ones that I get particular satisfaction from, such as achieving a world’s first, which we have done a few times, and it’s always nice to gain recognition from our peers too.”

He was involved in developing Chetwoods’ pioneering templates for logistics, and has led a number of ground-breaking environmental schemes including the Eco-Template study and a world first in the ‘Outstanding’ BREEAM Award, one of our more than seventy award wins and short-listings over the last nineteen years.

Tim has thirty years’ experience in logistics and leads our Industrial Intensification team, developing our sustainable logistics expertise in new building typologies that integrate city centre logistics and industrial into a hybrid solution that includes commercial, residential and retail.

His wide-ranging experience includes team management; commercial delivery; strategic direction and business development; sustainable design and technology; logistics, commercial, retail, urban logistics, industrial intensification, health and infrastructure sectors.

Tim summarises his and Chetwoods’ approach to projects:

“We always approach projects from the perspective of the three pillars of our business: design innovation and pushing the boundaries; sustainability and wellbeing; and delivery using data, digital analysis tools and technology. We look at ways of ‘turning the dial up’ in these three areas, supported by our specialist teams who help drive these ‘Studio’, ‘Thrive’ and ‘Works’ elements. It’s amazing what you can achieve when you raise the expectations at the very beginning of a project, and with the right team, we can push the boundaries of what has been done before.”

Tim is actively involved with the UK Green Building Council and is part of the UKGBC Leaders Forum. He is also a member of the NLA Expert Panel on Industrial and Logistics.

Laurie Chetwood, Chairman of Chetwoods, commented:
“Tim is an invaluable and highly-respected colleague who has been hugely influential in the growth of Chetwoods since he joined the practice nearly twenty years ago. As Managing Director he supported the business through challenges and prosperity, and I am confident that Chetwoods will continue to flourish under his leadership as CEO.”
