The client identified this project as a pilot in their adoption of BIM. The project was initially used to test the employer’s information requirements in a BIM environment and trial different software and collaboration platforms.
Following the tender stage and once the project moved onto site, BIM use continued to its completion and the client was given digital renditions of all relevant information to enable the building to be operated and maintained.
Chetwoods acted as Lead Designers and BIM co-ordinators providing the initial framework for other disciplines to feed into and create their elements.
Chetwoods used Autodesk Revit to author the information alongside Navisworks Manage for co-ordination with other consultants’ models. We also used NBS Create specification software which was directly linked to the building model. Autodesk BIM 360 field software and Buzzsaw was also trialled during the project. The model geometry was directly used to create a high quality CGI for client marketing purposes.
Chetwoods developed a bespoke BIM execution plan which has since been adopted by the client for use on future projects. Specific components were created and have formed part of the Client’s content library.
The project was evaluated by an independent BIM consultant appointed by the client and achieved outstanding results. The model file handed over to the client is now being used within their facilities management teams.
